GUILIANO MAZZOULLI MOKA 1
Moka-1 Roller ball-Ball point: In those days Guiliano Mazzuoli states,
the so-called “American-kitchen” did not exist in Italy. My
grandmothers’ kitchen was sparsely furnished, but high upon a shelf
stood the only ornaments in the room… four gleaming coffee-makers of
various sizes. I never once saw my grandmother use them to make coffee,
but she would polish them daily. Designed in the 1930s by Alfredo
Bialetti in an elegant Art-Deco style, the “Moka” coffee maker was a
luxury item in those times. It was not until the 1950s, however, that
the “Moka” became known throughout the world. In places where coffee
drinking customs were completely different from our own, the “Moka”
coffee makers were used both to make coffee and decoration, as in my
grandmother’s kitchen.
Today, the “Moka” coffee maker is an everyday object consisting of two
parts that screw together; it is used to make authentic home-made
Italian coffee. It is a masterpiece of design for me.
The “Moka” line is manufactured with chromed or anodized aluminum, in
seven colors. |
