Cross ATX Matte Chrome Fountain Pen

The company saw the light in 1846 in Providence, Rhode Island. At first, they manufactured gold and silver casings for pencils, reflecting the Cross family’s history as jewelers. Richard Cross founded the company who passed it on to his son Alonzo T. Cross. The company developed many new pens. This new pens also include some of the modern mechanical pencils. Also, the earliest stylograph pens that preceded the ball pen of today.

The company moved to a large facility about 155,000 square feet in Lincoln, Rhode Island in the 60s. After trading on the stock market for five years. Clarion Capital Partners LLC bought the company, retaining its headquarters in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

In May 2016, the company accepted a set of tax credits and incentives in exchange for moving to Providence, Rhode Island. The new site, measures about 4200 square feet, smaller than the old place.  their new address in Providence:  299 Promenade Street. Most of the principal employees moved to the new place by the end of 2016.

Cross has been an official supplier of pens to the White House. While an official Cross-White House program begun under president Bill Clinton, They don’t know if the tradition goes back to at least the administration of Gerald Ford. All presidents from Ronald Reagan to Donald Trump signed legislation using Cross pens; Also George W. Bush and Clinton favored the Cross Townsend model;  The Trump administration placed a first order for 150 Cross Century II pens in January 2017
