Laban African Wood Ball Pen

LABAN Pen Corporation, founded in 1981, By John Hu and his brother Charles. They partner together to build their own manufacturing plant to produce the high quality precious metals pens. Later, in 1993 they introduced their Filigree pens with precious metals, using a specialized process; This process made a major world pen producer.

In 1997 LABAN they start producing for special private needs. Later on, the company became the exclusive pen maker of the Vatican Museum, producing stunning and unique designs..

In 2004, they introduced the first dragon pen  with a dragon’s head sculpted as the cap of the pen.  In addition the pen has a sculpted barrel too. The 1,000 limited edition pens included Sterling and Gold-plated pieces as well as 22 solid 22 Kt. gold pens. This Pen made them the recipients of the Lewis & Clarke Award from the Royal Academy of Arts, for the Best pen of 2004 .

In 2011 LABAN created their Kaiser Series pens; Each pen, hand painted a process that takes 10 hours to complete, followed by ten layers of lacquer and polishing. It won the “Best Fashion Pen” of the year, from the Pen World Magazine. In this same year they commemorate his 30th anniversary.

The pen industry faces big challenges from a changing culture. Hence, their goal for the future is not to go after a volume business, but to make unique pens that show traditional handicraft with original design.
