The company saw the light in 1846 in Providence, Rhode Island. At first, they manufactured gold and silver casings for pencils, reflecting the Cross family’s history as jewelers. Richard Cross founded the company who passed it on to his son Alonzo T. Cross. The company developed many new pens. This new pens also include some of the modern mechanical pencils.
