Description

Retro51 Amelia Earhart’s Vega. When we saw the latest Smithsonian designs from Retro51, there was one that stood out over the rest. The  Amelia Earhart’s Vega pen. The pen stands out because of the red lacquered barrel with acid-etched rivets along the “panels” of the airplane. All of the above, matched with the gold pinstripes and antiqued brass hardware. These, makes us want to get out there and buy it!

The Lockheed 5B Vega plane, also, Known for its design, comes to life in this writing instrument. Amelia Earhart used this acclaimed Vega aircraft during her record-setting world flights. This celebratory pen is also, the perfect accessory for any writer and note taker.

Retro51 Amelia Earhart’s Vega

The Vega by Retro51 comes with antiqued brass accents and the Smithsonian logo on the top disc. The Amelia Earhart’s Vega pen comes packaged in a  tube that doubles as a pen stand. The Vega includes a smooth flowing rollerball refill that retracts with a turn of its knurled top. Replace the rollerball cartridge with any readily available Parker-style ballpoint refill and your Vega pen is now a ballpoint pen. You’ll find both theRetro51  capless rollerball refill and the Retro51 9000 ballpoint refill for this pen in our store under Retro51 Refills.

Amelia Earhart set two of her many aviation records in this bright red airplane. In 1932 she flew it across the Atlantic Ocean, and right after she traveled nonstop across the United States – both firsts for a woman. These feats made Earhart an instant worldwide sensation and proved she was a courageous and able pilot. The Smithsonian acquired the Vega in 1966 and is on display at the National Air and Space Museum to this day.
