Cross Compact Ball Pen
The company saw the light in 1846 inĀ Providence, Rhode Island. At first, they manufactured gold and silver casings for pencils, reflecting the Cross familyās history as jewelers. Richard Cross founded the company who passed it on to his son Alonzo T. Cross. The company developed many new pens. This new pens include some of the modern mechanical pencils. The company moved to a large facility about 155,000 square feet in Lincoln, Rhode Island in the 60s.Ā After trading on theĀ stock market for five years. Clarion Capital Partners LLC bought the company, retaining its headquarters in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
In May 2016, the company accepted a set of tax credits and incentives in exchange for moving to Providence, Rhode Island.Ā The new site, measures about 4200 square feet, smaller than the old place.Ā their new address in Providence:Ā 299 Promenade Street.Ā Most of the principal employees moved to the new place by the end of 2016.
